Three of us arrived on a Wednesday, about 20 minutes before open. There were about 10 or so parties ahead of us, but we were seated after about 30-45 minutes. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a business building, and there's an available parking garage directly below. The parking is about $4 or so and generally cash only. Will keep this short: if you haven't been here before, you really should try to visit - it's 100% worth the experience. Staff is incredibly attentive and the food is extremely well done. The sandwich, aw man, especially with some dressed up cabbage as garnish, ughhhh. I loved every bite! Excellent service and experience all together. Definitely the best pork tonkatsu I've had outside of Japan. Incredibly tender, juicy, and absolutely not overwhelming. Oh and the Hokkaido Rice -- so so so good!

Woah, this has got to be the best tonkatsu I've ever had and as close to the ones I've eaten in Japan. This restaurant specializes in serving dry aged Tonkatsu (pork cutlet/chop) with side of sesame tonkatsu sauce (personally hand grounded by you, with a mortar and pestle), pickles (ume, burdock and cabbage), rice and a choice of soup. My wife and I still dream of going back here and will make it an effort to revisit on our next trip to Hawaii. I highly recommend to make a reservation. We were considered lucky on a Saturday night to wait 40 minutes without a rsvp at 9:30pm. It was sooo worth the weight. I may recommend take out and to eat the katsu as fresh as possible or risk ruining the katsu to steam as takeout. This is a must for foodies.

This spot is one of the hardest places to get a reservation in Hawaii--bookings need to be made 4-6 months in advance, and they're always full. But it's worth the wait! The katsu here is some of the best I've ever had, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. I tried the pork and shrimp katsu, and it was fantastic. The meal comes with a choice of miso soup, and I opted for the white miso with clam. You can also choose from three types of rice, and I went with the mix rice--perfect pairing! Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation. Every bite was amazing. The wait staff were attentive and super friendly, making the experience even better. I can't wait to come back!

We recently dined at Tonkatsu Yamafuji for a birthday celebration. I ordered the 8.5oz Pork Loin Katsu with the Red Miso with Clam and Green onion and the Seasoned Mixed Rice. The pork loin katsu was juicy with a crisp exterior. The miso and rice were also packed with flavor. The service was great and efficient per usual. The dining area was packed, but luckily we got a table off to the side so we had an ample amount of space. I always enjoy eating here and definitely looking forward to the next visit!

Reservations are so hard to get here and everything was booked when we decided we were coming to Oahu 3 months ago, so we decided to try and walk in. We went for lunch. They open at 11am, and I came at 10am to try and brave the waitlist. A few minutes later, someone came out with a written waitlist, so my husband and I got number 1 on the list. He told us no need to wait, just come back by 11am. When we got back at 10:55, there were 9 parties after us. At 11am, they opened their doors and asked people with reservations to come in first, then they started calling parties off the waitlist. For that day, i saw about 5 parties seated after us. Inside is pretty small, maybe about 12 tables or so. Service was pretty fast! For those wondering, you are allowed to share! We shared the 300g pork loin katsu and their special pork meatball (2 pieces). The katsu came with miso soup, a bowl of rice, sesame seeds (you mash it up and add tonkatsu sauce to it), and some pickled veggies in the beginning. If you compare this to the katsu I've had in the US, this is definitely the best so that's why I'm eating it a 5. The batter is super crispy, and the pork is so tasty. I love the experience of being able to mash the sesame seeds and choosing the sweet or spicy tonkatsu sauce. For what you get, the price is reasonable! The pork meatballs were a great add-on. I've been to Japan, and I have to say Japan is still better. I would say the meat isn't as moist and maybe a little too done, but nevertheless, still the best around here. Staff was super nice and efficient. I would go back!

Ok, there are a slew of reviews about food and how good it is. There is no disputing this FACT. What my review will center on are other things. Interior - this place is small. There are a total of about (11) tables. Various sizes but average number of seats per table is about four seats We got there for the first seating of the day (Sunday) at 11am. Reservations were placed in Jan 2024 for seating of five adults on Sunday - Sept 1, 2024. Yes...eight months in advance people so plan accordingly. Prior to arrival, we all looked at the menu online and knew how to order. Our orders were taken about five mins after we were seated and we got our meals at about 11:20 or so. NO ONE else got their orders till 11:40!!! Eyes were on us while we were eating. When we left at 11:50 or so, there were still people waiting on their meals. Tip - look at the menu prior to arrival and order as soon as you are seated. Service was great. Everyone was attentive to our requests and food was so ono. Softest tonkatsu you will ever have outside of Japan.

Made reservation for 3 people at 6:30 (this reservation was made eight months ago). There're around 20 walk-in people waiting. They provide cup of water to the walk-in customers while they're waiting. We ordered 240g Jyukusei (Aged) Pork Loin Katsu Teishoku - $27.50. It comes with rice and a bowl of miso soup. The Pork Loin Katsu was delicious, not too fatty and the meat was pretty tender and juicy. We also ordered Oyster and Shrimp Katsu Teishoku - $27.50. The oyster was delicious but not the shrimp. I would highly recommend the Oyster set. Our server passed out the hot towel before our meal as well as a cup of Japanese hot tea at the end. The restaurant smells a little bit oily and hopefully they'll adjust their AC temperature in the future. It was pretty hot. Overall, this is one of the best Katsu places on the island. I'll definitely come back again.
